Going Green

Dear Davis,

Today was Earth Day, and I'm proud to say that you took it pretty seriously. When you got home from school, you asked me for permission to go around the neighborhood collecting trash. You even got your brothers and buddies involved! You later told me that the five-year-old kid up the street went back home to get more trash bags when you guys filled the first one up! How's that for teamwork?!? Thanks for setting such a good example for the little ones.

Ever since Daddy told you about his fond memories of eating fresh peas from Great-Grandpa's garden when he was a little boy, you have been wanting to create a garden here at home. Today we started by planting some cherry tomatoes on our deck (with a little help from Cooper!). Your enthusiasm about this task sort of cracked me up, though, since your dislike of tomatoes is well-known! I'm hoping that the joy of tending your own little seedling in anticipation of the harvest just might convince you to like tomatoes as much as your mom does!

I am so proud of you for doing your part and being a good steward of our planet!

Love,

Mommy
